What To Expect At Your Assessment

The clinician will assess your feet and lower limbs in detail, using a combination of history, physical examination, and movement analysis.

1. History

  • Your symptoms (how long they’ve lasted, severity, patterns)

  • Previous injuries or family history

  • Medical conditions such as diabetes or arthritis

  • Lifestyle, daily activities, and occupation

  • Footwear fit, style, and wear patterns

2. Biomechanical Examination

  • Foot structure and joint mobility

  • Muscle strength and balance

  • Hygenie and soft tissue health

  • Posture and overall alignment

  • Special tests based on your condition or presenting complaint

3. Gait Analysis

  • Initial contact – first contact with the ground

  • Midstance – full foot support

  • Propulsion – push-off phase

  • Swing – follow-through

4. Footwear Assessment

  • Clinician will recommend footwear that is best suited for your foot shape and condition

  • Foot size and width will be measured using a Brannock device

  • Current footwear will be evaluated, including wear patterns on work and athletic shoes

5. Treatment Plan

  • Recommendations may include custom foot orthotics, orthopaedic footwear, or bracing

  • Consult allied health professional or guidance to family doctor for further evaluation or diagnostics

  • Treatment is based on diagnosis, assessment findings and current industry scientific evidence

 After the assessment, you leave with a clear understanding of your condition and the best path forward to move comfortably and confidently.
